If your certification expired within the last 2 years, you are eligible to use the reactivation option offered by ONCB to regain your credential. In order to reactivate your credential, you must complete the application on this page and submit evidence of completion of contact hours (certificates) pertaining to your credential. These activities must have been completed AFTER your credential officially expired.
ONC® Reactivation
If you held the ONC credential, you must demonstrate completion of 15 contact hours of continuing education in clinical orthopaedics (Category A) for each year or part of a year since credential expiration (15 hours for up to 1 year, 30 hours for 1-2 years’ expiration).
In addition, you must complete the one-page application (download ONC reactivation application) and provide a statement of your plans for professional development for the 5-year period of certification (download reactivation policy). Fee to be submitted with the application is the same as current online application examination fees for the credential and NAON membership class as follows:
Reactivate ONC® credential
$295 NAON members
$410 non-members
Application must be submitted no later than June 30 from the second year of your credential expiration (ex. if your certification expired June 30, 2023 you would be eligible for the reactivation program if you submit your application by June 30, 2025).
ONP-C® and OCNS-C® Reactivation
As a former APN certificant, you must demonstrate completion of 20 contact hours of continuing education in clinical orthopaedics (Category A) for each year or part of year since credential expiration (20 hours for up to 1 year, 40 hours for 1-2 years’ expiration).
In addition, you must complete the one-page application (download APRN reactivation application) and provide a statement of your plans for professional development for the 5-year period of certification (download reactivation policy). Fee to be submitted with the application is the same as current online application examination fees for the credential and NAON membership class as follows:
Reactivate APN credential
$345 NAON members
$460 non-members
Application must be submitted no later than June 30 from the second year of your credential expiration (ex. if your certification expired June 30, 2023 you would be eligible for the reactivation program if you submit your application by June 30, 2025).
ONC-A™ Reactivation
As a former ONC-A certificant, you must demonstrate completion of 20 contact hours of continuing education in clinical orthopaedics (Category A) for each year or part of year since credential expiration (20 hours for up to 1 year, 40 hours for 1-2 years’ expiration).
In addition, you must complete the one-page application and provide a statement of your plans for professional development for the 5-year period of certification. Fee to be submitted with the application is the same as current online application examination fees for the credential and NAON membership status. Fees would be the same as reactivating APN credential (above).
