Serve as the Public Voice on the ONCB Board: Public Member Opportunity
The Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board (ONCB) is seeking a dedicated Public Member. This role provides a unique opportunity to represent the interests of patients, consumers, and the public while helping guide the organization’s work in advancing excellence in orthopaedic nursing certification.
As a Public Member, you will contribute an external perspective, help identify emerging issues that may impact healthcare consumers, and support ONCB’s commitment to protecting the public through high-quality certification programs.
Who Is Eligible?
ONCB welcomes applications from individuals who have experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Health care and health-related issues
- Testing, assessment, or certification programs
- Legal expertise
- Financial expertise
To be eligible, applicants:
- Must not be a registered nurse
- Must not be employed by or involved with any nursing credentialing organization
- Should have involvement with consumer advocacy groups or issues, or a demonstrated interest in healthcare as it relates to public protection and consumer interests
What Does the Role Involve?
The Public Member serves a three-year term and participates as a full voting member of the ONCB Board. Responsibilities include:
- Attending virtual and in-person ONCB board meetings
- Reviewing and responding to board materials and reports
- Providing insight on healthcare consumer issues and public interests
- Monitoring governmental, societal, and economic trends that may impact ONCB’s work
- Supporting sound governance and organizational decision-making
