Examination Preparation Products Scholarship

2026 Deadlines: May 1, October 1

This scholarship is jointly sponsored by NAON and ONCB twice a year to encourage nurses to seek ONC® and ONP-C® certification in orthopaedics. NAON is a leader in promotion of musculoskeletal health; ONCB certification recognizes knowledge in the specialty practice of musculoskeletal nursing.

The ONC scholarship award includes one copy of the current Core Curriculum for Orthopaedic Nursing, courtesy of NAON, and a bundle of five
online ONC practice examinations provided by ONCB. The ONP-C scholarship award comprises the AAOS Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care, Enhanced Fifth Edition textbook with interactive eBook courtesy of NAON, and a bundle of five online ONP-C practice exams provided by
ONCB. Scholarship recipients will be recognized in ONCB and NAON communications.

Applicants for Certification Examination: Eligibility Criteria

1. Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements to take one of the ONCB
   certification examinations. Visit www.oncb.org for details.
2. Candidates must be taking the certification examination for the first time.
   Individuals who are re-testing or recertifying by examination are ineligible for the
   scholarship.
3. Candidates are required to hold current NAON membership.

Scholarship Application: Required Documentation

1. Complete application with attestation of current eligibility to apply for the ONC or
   ONP-C certification examination.
2. Statement (minimum 250 words) addressing the following:
   1. Describe your practice in orthopaedic nursing and how certification would
      be a professional development benefit in your current role.
   2. How would the examination preparation products help you in meeting
      professional development goals?
   3. Description of your current orthopaedic nursing practice

Submission Deadline
Applications must be received by the ONCB by May 30 or October 1 of each calendar year depending on the award sought (May or October). Submissions received after the deadline will not receive consideration. The ONCB recommends sending applications via registered or certified mail. The ONCB is not responsible for non-performance on the part of the mail.

Scoring of Scholarship Applications
Each award application will be assessed by representatives of NAON and ONCB using an objective scoring tool.

AI Statement
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to generate or write responses is not permitted. All written responses to the scholarship prompts must be your own original words. Applications containing AI-generated responses may be disqualified.

Notification of Scholarship Receipt
NAON and ONCB will notify applicants of the scholarship selection no later than June 30, and November 30 respectively. Further instructions for the scholarship recipients will be provided at that time.

Incomplete Applications
Incomplete submissions and/or applications will not be considered.
